Donated Horses always Needed

Due to the nature of the programs, EAP and the Youth Residential Treatment Home, a place can be found for most equine personalities.   The horses may be used for groundwork, therapy and even rehabilitation projects can prove very helpful to the youth.   Many kids who don't know how to take care of themselves properly due to neglect, drug use or lifestyle will readily care for a horse that has had a rough life.   These skills are then transferred through time and therapy into an understanding of caring for themselves.   This has been especially helpful to anorexic teen girls.  Boys that have found success in life this far by bullying, are reluctant to bully a dominant horse in the round pen.   These kids  work at developing a communication style to achieve new goals with the horses.  The victims of horrific abuse, still need that bomb proof quiet loving ear to cry and whisper in.   Our horses help meet all these needs.

As our programs grow, and we have senior level kids, we are more in need of experienced horses that can go out to a local show.   These advanced teens are eager to push their coping skills, communication and dedication in the "real" horse world.  Most of the youth we work with, have never learned to work hard at anything, and they certainly haven't ever blossomed in the rewards of that hard work.  While the show world definitely puts all of their new maturity to the test, it offers great life skills and wonderful self confidence .  If you have a semi-retired performance horse, we would love to hear from you.   Maintanence and unsoundness issues are welcome.   We work with a wonderful veterinarian and farrier to hold these equine treasures together.  References are always available.

If the situation arises that a horse is completely unsuitable, we will gladly relocate it to a new private permanent home.  No dealers, no auctions.   Due to the varied nature of the programming, this is rarely , if ever a problem.   Tax receipts are available, if you are willing to wade through significant red tape with us.   The horses do need to be fully owned by Ark Equestrian, due to insurance and liability restrictions.   This makes long term leases a bit tricky to facilitate.   We are willing to work with you for individual donation details though.
