Horses of Ark

We are fortunate enough to have some amazing horses here at Ark Equestrian.   Everyone has

a job, and everyone is fit and happy.   Show , lesson, therapy or broodmare, the all recieve the

same daily care.  Horses really are happiest when they have a task  to do.  Our horses are always

keen to spend time with visitors.

Grace

Grace, registered as Miss Mitos Tabu is a Quarter Horse. She is 7 years old,  and 14.1and a bit, good temperment and is great with kids. She loves getting treats, or any type of food.  Grace is very easy to ride, moves well from your seat and leg.  Grace is my "one in a million" horse,   the one that comes along only once in a lifetime.  I will forever compare every other horse to her.  I am sure none will ever hold up to her standard.  Grace is sired by Triple Tabu, who is known for throwing good temperments, and was ranked 17th as an AQHA sire for youth horses.  Her Grey colour comes from her Mamas side, out of  Mito Commander. She is an amazing horse who has fully recovered from a broken leg in the winter of 2005.  Many thanks to Caleb for his excellent care of her !     Trained:- Dressage- Reining

G. I. Joe

Mothers Day 2007 brought us a special treat.   Our wonderful foal arrived !  This is Joe and he is simply stunning.   He has some pretty big hooves to fill,   as both his Momma, Grace and his Daddy, Half Moon Romance are pretty stunning horses.   Joe seems like he will be able to live up to our expectations.   He has a wonderful floaty trot and a free moving, ground covering canter.   While waiting for him to hit the dressage world,  we plan on having him stallion inspected, and  shown on the line.    While his foal coat may look dark bay,  he is actually a lovely black coated man,  BUT,  his grey spectacles let us know that eventually he will be a pretty grey,  just like his Mom.

Lacey

Lacey , (Ribbons and Lace)  is a 5yr old quarter horse.   She has a very quiet disposition and is super to get along with.  Lacey has a good start under saddle and will walk/trot/canter quietly.  She moves off your leg easily, and is  a great trail horse.  I don't think I have ever seen Lacey have a bad day.  She is always happy to see you.  Lacey is an incredible lesson horse,  she is always willing and safe.   Lacey has amazing muscle, she looks like a weightlifter, even when in the summer pasture.  We are expecting big things from Lacey in the next few years on the show circuit.   We are thrilled to have Lacey here.

Russ

Russ ( Jays Sugar Amos)  is a wonderfull, calm Quarter Horse gelding. Standing 15.2 Russ is small for a police horse, but he is approachable and often used in public settings.   Russ is very cooperative with people.  He has been well trained, and is easy to ride.  Many people have felt their first "sliding stop" riding Russ. Russ has many reining trophies and NRHA monies earned.   Russ is also a Chatham-Kent Police horse and can be found on duty May thru December.  Not many horses can turn on the pizzaz in the show ring, or shut it off for a patrol down a city street.  He is quite an amazing horse.   Russ is Dales reining horse.   Russ also competed in the 2007 Paralympic Championship Games with two novice competitors. Russ was amazing !

Asparagus

Gus is one of our superstars !   Quite the boy.  He is Grace a run for the title of "Best Horse Ever Owned"    He really is delightful.   He is very hardworking and always willing to give something a try.   Gus has been part of many exciting things in the time that we have owned him,  from clinics with Catherine Haddad and Mette Rosencrantz to participating with Ontario's own FEI Paralympic rider Dax Adams in Sarnia this June 2007.   Gus is a favorite for intermediate to advanced students,  and he is delightful to take out to local shows.

Tinseltown Glitter

Ethel is one of our newest reining horses.    She is a very very pretty girl.   Dale rode Ethel at the Can Am Expo ,   just a few short weeks after we got her.   Ethel comes from a strong line on "Hollywood" reining horses.    She has already left her mark finishing in the top three at many reining and pleasure futurities.   We have great expectations for her future with us.    Ethel will be shown by Marci, in the reining pen this year,  as well as continuing to be a wonderful lesson and therapy horse.

A Strip of Tabu

Jazz came to us in the spring of 2007,  and while was origionally a horse for Marci,  her talent was quickly noticed by Dale and he stole her away.    ( Actually it was a cunning trade,   facilitated by the great business mind of Marci,   Ethel, Foxy and Nikki on trade for Jazz.   But,  I seem to have ended up with ALOT more horses !)  Jazz was gently introduced to the reining show world last season,  and has earned some NRHA money already.    She is a soft,  well schooled young girl.   I know she and Dale will be a great pair.   As you can see,   Dale has given her his trademark colour,  orange,  which makes her look in my mind rather hallowe'enish,  but none the less pretty !

Dallas

Dallas is a 16.3h Oldenburg who comes from an eventing background. Even thought Dallas is one of our largest horses,  he is a very well rounded gentleman.   He can be ridden by the smallest beginner and keep them safe,  and he can also show off his flashy warmblood movements in the show ring with an advanced rider.    Dallas excells in therapy work , and would much rather be surrounded by people then horses.

Patrick

Patrick is a 16yr old 15.3h Hannoverian gelding.   He  is very talented and rather a character.  Patrick has come a long way in his work ethic over the past year.   You can watch for Patrick and Marci to hit the show circuit in 2010 !

Secret

Secret is our newest therapy horse.   She is a 16.3h full bodied Tb mare.   At 13 years of age Secret has the best half of her life ahead of her.   We are thrilled to add her to our team.   With a history of dressage and eventing Secret is the perfect horse for our advanced members to work with.

Abbott

Abbott represents everything that is good about Canadian Breeding.   He is a Canadian Sport Horse, with Dutch breeding crossed on Thouroughbred lines.  Abbott is definately a huge clown.   Nothing within his reach is safe from his lips.   He is turned out with his two little brothers and side kicks, that cause endless trouble.  His big,  dark body,  and imposing frame are just what we need at Ark !   Definately a contrast to the 14.1h quarter horses !

Windigo

Windigo is an imposing 17.3 Hannoverian.   He is still finding his place here at Ark, but already has a loyal following of fans.   Windigo,  like Abbott,  puts everything in his mouth !   It is like having a barn full of giant toddlers.   His latest triumph was to pull the broom into his stall and proceed to shread the top,  while making kindling wood out of the handle.   He was pretty proud of his accomplishment !

Bentley

Bentley is another Canadian Sport Horse,   similar to Abbott, he is Dutch Warmblood x Tb.   Bentley is  a rare palomino colour,  but is covered in Ben D'or spots which makes him very unique.   Bentley is now two years old colt,  and has a bright future ahead of him.    Bentley hangs  out with Joe and Abbott,  and they cause endless amounts of trouble !
